New Year's resolutions to improve dental health

Looking after your teeth and gums doesn't have to be stressful or complicated. A few simple habits can ensure that you maintain a beautiful smile for years to come. Here are some proposed New Year's resolutions to effectively care for your teeth and gums:

Daily brushing: It is recommended that you brush your teeth at least twice a day. If you are not already doing this, you can set an alarm clock on your phone to remind yourself to brush in the morning after breakfast and again before bed.

Don't forget to floss: While brushing is the foundation of a healthy smile, don't overlook the importance of flossing. Choose a specific time of day when you floss, such as in the evening, along with your brushing habit.

Quit smoking: Quitting this habit will help you avoid tooth discolouration, gum disease and other negative effects of tobacco use.

Choose water over sweetened drinks: It's important to stay hydrated, but drinking sweetened drinks throughout the day can be one of the worst things you can do for your dental health. Every time you take a sip, the sugar from the drink coats your teeth and creates the perfect acidic environment that promotes tooth decay. Try to limit your intake of sweetened drinks or leave them out altogether and opt for water.

Regular dental cleanings: every person should visit the dentist at least twice a year for a cleaning and check-up. If you have been putting off a check-up or dental treatment, it is best to make an appointment at our Awodent clinic as early as January.

If you are looking for individual recommendations to improve your smile, then our Awodent team is here for you. We will be happy to support your New Year's resolutions. Call to make an appointment at our clinic 22 666 18 33
